Cylas is a fifth-year Bachelor of Architecture student at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) and will graduate in May 2025. He joined the Yu & Associates Collaborative as an architectural designer in 2023.

Clyas has participated in all phases of projects, including design, coordination, and documentation, for multiple single-family homes and commercial projects. Most recently, he led the design for a 2,000 SF academy interior build-out in the Uptown neighborhood. In addition to being on various project teams, Cylas is hands-on with improving the standardization and efficient use of BIM software within the practice.

Throughout his education, Cylas had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy, Germany, Denmark, and the Netherlands, where he studied the work of architects from the ancient world to the contemporary. Cylas is fascinated by the ways that design can drive social interaction and seeks to integrate aspects of cultures from around the world into the American city.

In his personal life, Cylas values traveling the world. He most recently spent time in Japan and Taiwan. Outside of work, Cylas stays active by playing hockey year-round, going to the gym, and running. He is also invested in building and painting model kits.
