Wei Yu, AIA, LEED AP BD+C
Architect
With a deep appreciation for honest and practical designs, Wei founded Yu & Associates Collaborative in 2020. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, MN, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).
Born in China, Wei moved to the United States at a young age. With his multicultural background, Wei believes that a well-crafted design has the power to uplift the spirit of individuals and communities. Wei is particularly interested in creating timeless solutions through a collaborative process. He enjoys dialogue with clients, and is involved in all projects at the studio. Wei is a LEED-accredited professional and a licensed architect in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. He also maintains an active National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) certificate. Before establishing his own studio, Wei worked for high-profile design firms Booth Hansen and Adrian Smith + Gordan Gill in Chicago.
Wei is an active member of his local community, serving on the 44th Ward (Lakeview) Planning & Zoning Advisory Council. He also sits on the Advisory Board of Directors for the Stender School of Business & Technology at the College of Saint Scholastica. Wei is a former Chicago Director for the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Illinois Chapter and an Associate Director for Blessing in a Backpack, a non-profit organization missioned to feed school-age children on the weekends.
In his free time, Wei enjoys spending time with his family and his black lab, Vader. Growing up in Minnesota, Wei loves many winter outdoor activities, including snowboarding and ice fishing.
